Ventures & Rovers

For older scouts, the programme is theirs to run. They choose the expeditions, projects and trips, then plan them and make them happen.

Venture Scouts

Ventures set their own programme and share out the jobs of running it. Leaders step back to an advisory role.

Rover Scouts

Rovers are young adults who run themselves entirely, mixing their own adventures with service to the group and the community.

What they do

The activities depend on what the members want, which is the point. Typical things include:

  • Mountain hikes and multi-day expeditions
  • Camps and trips, in Ireland and abroad
  • Community and service projects
  • National and international scouting events
  • Helping out with the younger sections
