History of the 74th :
From 1983, any boys in the 8-11 age group, wishing to join the Douglas Macaoimh, and who were living in the Frankfield-Grange area, were allocated to the newly formed 74th Cork Macaoimh.
In September 1985, any 74th Cork Macaoimh who reached 11 years of age, together with existing scouts from the 6th / 47th Cork Douglas, who were living in Frankfield-Grange, were brought together to form the 74th Cork Scout Troop.
The 74th Cork Unit ( Scouts & Macaoimh) was now run independently of Douglas, even though they continued to meet in the Douglas Scout Hall until they moved to the new community centre in Frankfield-Grange in January 1990 .
